Butt Patrol
Swanton Middle School SEED students participated in Global Youth Service Day by volunteering in a “Butt Patrol” during which they picked up cigarette butts and other trash in the Swanton community. Experiences like these allow our youth to see how important it is to care for their community and talk to others about the risks associated with drug and alcohol use.
SEED retreat
During SEED's annual middle school retreat, students participated in team-building activities and discussed potential community projects they want to enact in Swanton. The students then took these ideas and organized and discussed the specific details and logistics surrounding the community project at their first ever retreat! Students also wrote positive messages for the community on the sidewalks of Main Street to show the positivity that leadership can bring within their community.
We asked, "What's better than trying drugs over the summer"?
